Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q
Reserves | Taken Characters | The Rules | The Application | AU Workshop

What sort of game is this? What is the setting?
This is a sandbox game based within the world of My Hero Academia, a popular anime in which most people have “quirks”, or basically mutant abilities. It’s like X-Men 100 years in the future where the mutants are the cool people because 80% of the entire world’s population has these quirks, and those who don’t have them are looked down upon and ostracized. So like the opposite of X-Men. Magneto would love this place. See the AU workshop for more info.

What characters can I take in this game?
Characters found within the MHA universe may be taken, as well as characters from other media so long as they are properly AU’d into the setting. Characters must be human at their core, but some loopholes exist in which, for example, Rocket Raccoon could be taken as a character that was once human but his quirk gave him the appearance of a raccoon. Additionally, characters from both outside media and MHA may be placed at different ages or histories so long as a comprehensive history is written for them. The example here would be that someone could choose to take All Might as a student, or Deku as a villain.

Is there a character limit?
Yes. Players can take up to five characters without any issue though you may only app one character at a time. After five, it will be a case by case basis. There's no actual activity requirements for the game but, as you will see below, we do ask you stay aware of what you can handle.

What are the AC requirements for the game?
There is no AC per se, just a monthly check in where you tell us you’re still interested in being in the game. We do ask that players try to be conscientious of their involvement and not “squat” on a character if they realize they aren’t interested in playing the game any further.

Where should I put my character if I want them to be more active? Less active?

The game is intended to center around the school, and thus the most activity will take place there (although that could change based on what players do). Therefore, the best place to put a character that you want to see a lot of play would be in class 1A as we anticipate that to be the most active pool of characters. Likewise, other students in other classes/grades could be fairly active or inactive, depending on your desire and initiative, as well as teachers. If you want to be less active, then we’d suggest a character outside of the schools, such as a pro hero that shows up once in a while, or a police officer, etc. Students can also be “background” characters so long as they aren’t in 1A.

I’m joining the game after opening and I want my student to be in 1A. How do I explain them suddenly coming into the picture?
Anyone coming in late at the school will be assumed to have always been there. They’ll more or less be background characters that are now being pulled into the spotlight, as anime does sometimes. Congrats, you get lines now! But basically act like they’ve been there since the start of the school year and are just now bothering to interact with the “main cast” or speaking up/acting out, whatever. Other players should treat these new characters in the same way, as if they’ve been in the class the whole time.

Can I play a villain?
With the exception of All for One himself, villains are fair game. You are more than welcome to take a canon villain or take a “hero” character and turn them into a villain for the game of any rank you desire. (MHA canon ranks villains using an A-B-C-D system with A being the most dangerous villains and D being the weakest.) All we ask is that you communicate with your fellow players about things you want your villains to do and if you have any big plots you want to put into motion, reach out to us mods and just give us a heads up. Remember, godmodding is not allowed in game so it’s important that you clear your plots with everyone you’re involving. (But also keep in mind that villains are villains and half the fun is surprises so don’t plan out everything; that takes away from the fun of it!)

You mentioned All for One but are there any other characters that are off limits?
Principal Nezu, as he is the mod controlled NPC for the game. Mineta. Otherwise all characters are fair game.
